Since its inception in 1907, it has operated with the guiding principle of exceeding the customer’s expectations. With this fundamental focus, it has won the loyalty of luxury shoppers through its curated assortments of desirable brands, inclusive culture, and commitment to innovation.

Known for its discerning fashion taste, Neiman Marcus is embracing the cloud to amplify the strength and power of its merchandising organization. As a long-standing customer with Oracle across multiple solutions, its investments in technology and data allow Neiman Marcus to scale its personalized luxury experience across its stores, ecommerce, and remote selling channels. In 2019, it decided to shift Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning to the cloud.

Neiman Marcus Realizes Fast Time to Value with Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning in the Cloud

Neiman Marcus has evolved its merchandising approach to be more personal and modern technology has been a critical enabler of this transformation. It needed a Merchandise Financial Planning solution that could provide an intuitive user experience, incorporate more data, and streamline its financial planning process. The move to the cloud was completed in just four months and achieved Neiman Marcus’s desired outcomes, including:

  • Frequent, automatic updates and enhancements from Oracle, unlike its past lengthy, costly, and complex upgrades in its former on-premises environment.
  • Its internal IT resources can focus on other in-house projects.
  • Ability to scale data usage and storage as needed instead of making a point-in-time decision.
  • Lower total cost of ownership due to support from Oracle, rather than outsourcing support to a third party or managing it in-house.

Merchandise financial planning is a critical component of Neiman Marcus’s merchandising process. Oracle Retail Merchandise Financial Planning supports the business in setting inventory targets and informing in-season execution. With constant enhancements and seamless updates, users always have the latest technology to curate optimized assortments. Since shifting to the cloud, its planners can now incorporate more data into their workbooks, making it possible to plan further into the future without sacrificing performance or speed. The ability to pull in more data in one place has tremendously reduced the number of systems and steps required, improving efficiency and productivity. With a highly configurable and flexible solution, its users can plan at different hierarchy levels such as by brands, categories, or departments – all in a single view.
